Strong Zinc Consumption Growth Growth

Increased demand for galvanised steel and zinc based alloys will be an important driver of increased zinc consumption.
Half of all refined zinc is consumed in the construction sector and a further 25 per cent in transport industries, including motor vehicle manufacturing. These industries are expanding rapidly in developing Asia, particularly with India and China economy’s growing.
Zinc consumption is forecast to grow by almost 3 percent in 2007 to around 11.4 million tonnes and by a further 3 per cent in 2008 to 11.7 million tonnes.
